Clarification of glucose syrup
Purpose
Conventional technology uses filters with a precoat layer and a filling made of kieselguhr or perlite. Filter aids have several disadvantages, such as additional waste which is becoming increasingly difficult and costly to dispose of, operational difficulties (control of the precoat layer), consumption costs and limited clarification performance.
Solution
The crossflow filtration system uses Inside Céram™ micro- or ultrafiltration ceramic membranes, which retain the majority of colloids and bacteria. During treatment, the product is split into two phases:
- a filtrate free of bacteria and colloids
- a concentrate containing bacteria, colloids and suspended solids
