Backpulsing
Backpulsing refers to the backwashing of particles or molecules in membrane technology.
Ceramic tubular membranes are backwashable. Here, the liquid is pushed back from the permeate side. This pressure impulse (backpulse) flushes the particles or molecules deposited on the membrane surface back into the main stream. The membrane surface is thus cleaned.
The effectiveness of backpulsing depends on the porosity (cut-off) of the membrane and is only truly effective in the range of more open membranes (microfiltration).
About us
The TAMI Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ceramic tubular membranes for crossflow, micro-, ultra- and nanofiltration of liquid media.
Primary application areas for these membranes include filtration and separation processes in the food and beverage industry, chemical process engineering, biotechnology and water/wastewater treatment.
