How does ceramic tangential flow filtration work?

Tangential flow filtration (TFF), also known as crossflow filtration, is a physical separation process based on the difference in size between the particles contained in a liquid and the pores of the membrane. In TFF, the feed solution flows parallel to the surface of the membrane. The particles in the feed solution that are larger than the membrane pores are concentrated as filtration progresses.

You can find out where ceramic membranes are used today and what distinguishes ceramic from polymeric materials in the current newsletter from TAMI Industries.
