Printing ink wastewater

Purpose

Flexographic printing inks are often used for printing packaging board. During every colour change, or at the end of the processing period, the printing machine must be washed to prevent the ink from drying.

Solution

The crossflow filtration system uses INSIDE CéRAM™ ultrafiltration ceramic membranes to separate the flexographic ink from the rinse water, which can then be reused.
During treatment, the product is split into two phases:

• a concentrate, with a small volume and an ink concentration high enough to be disposed of economically
• a filtrate that can be reused for the next wash cycle
